RESEARCH

WEEK 1 / 22.04.2024
In our first week, Mr Asrizal briefed us about our module and assessment tasks. Followed by deciding the team for our exhibition/ Final Year Showcase.

🌸DESIGN TEAM
I chose the design team, the team that handles all the art direction. We discussed our ideas for the theme or concept of the exhibition. The theme has to connect and relate with us, students.
Then we planned to discuss and choose from all the ideas on Friday at 10 AM. Here is what I need to prepare before the meeting online:

Timeline - agenda
1. Concept - references
2. Name - theme and idea of who we are
3. Moodboard for each idea to know the look and feel
4. GanttChart
Deadline - Friday 10 AM

🌸DIGITAL PORTFOLIO
In the class, Mr Asrizal mentioned that before we do the digital portfolio, we have to ask ourselves.
"WHO AM I?", with the same styling reference.

2. Industry Experience
3. Skills
4. Interest
5. Details

Notes:
- 1 page only
- Latest on top

💁WHO AM I?
A student who likes to design and animate or bring something to life. Preferably doing motion graphic artist instead or animator lol. Enjoy listening to classical and jazz music. Preferably style: something minimalist, clean, and aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

WEEK 2 / 29.04.2024

🌸DESIGN TEAM
✒️PROGRESS (Concept & Theme)
Today we had a presentation to present our ideas to other groups to validate our ideas. Other groups did presentations as well.

RESULT (Concept & Theme)
As a result, we combined both of our selected ideas. The structure or aesthetic came from the first idea (DVD) but the colour palette we chose for the second idea.
We also decided on the title: "24. Interlude" (2024 graduate | track splitting two parts of an album as for us it's university life and work life)

🌸What we wish you know about 'burnout'
Seminar from our senior

Fig. 2.1 / BurnOut

From the seminar, I have realised that I will never be a perfect person. Don't do something to please people, but do it for yourself. Enjoy everything that you did and don't be too hard on yourself, so that you won't feel burnout. Separate between work and personal, so when you get criticism of your work, you don't get offended.

🌸DESIGN TEAM
✒️PROGRESS (KV & Logo)
Here is our rationale for the exhibition.

Fig. 2.2 / Rationale

We had several meetings internally and we decided to separate our work into logo and KV. I did the KV.

Fig. 2.3 - 2.4 / Logo and KV attempt#1

I did some sketches for the poster idea.
Fig. 2.5 - 2.8 / Sketches #1

Here is mine.

Fig. 2.9 - 2.10 / Coloured#1

However, our ideas were rejected. They want it more towards the DVD disk rather than the music disk.
Note:
- Design for merch ideally get done around week 5/6 so can promote and print
- Booklet - yearbook style. Content to be confirmed.
- Space for decoration to be confirmed after this week
- Social media guidelines to be prioritise
- I told the teams that for merch I can't guarantee next week for a complete look but a draft/sketch if KV is finalise
- For merch, they did ask how many designs we came up with for example - 2 designs for a shirt and how many colours. This we need to consider and let them know so can get quotations

Here is my second attempt.

Here is my progression.

FEEDBACK

🌸DIGITAL PORTFOLIO
WEEK 2 / 29.04.24
- ok

🌸DESIGN TEAM
WEEK 2 / 29.04.24
(From Classmate)
- Combine the ideas between first and second ideas
- The aesthetics and structure are taken from the first idea
- The colour taken from the second idea
- Suggest not putting all in a bright colour to show the contrast
- Think about the merchandise design
- We need to update our ideas (solidify) and send them to the big group.

WEEK 3 / 06.05.24
(From Mr Asrizal)
- revised rationale (why past and present)
- FY exhibition  --> FY showcase
(From Classmate)
- KV focus more on the CD concept rather than the vinyl
- Finalised logo
- Next meeting

PS: ok, I don't remember after that. It's just a lot hahahah

🌸DIGITAL PORTFOLIO

24. Interlude

I am incredibly grateful that we successfully conducted the Interlude Showcase. It has been an intense and demanding journey, but thanks to God, our design team can finally rest, knowing that all our sweat and tears were worth it. This experience has been deeply fulfilling, and I am proud of what we have accomplished together.

I want to express my deepest gratitude to Ms. Anis, the program director, for her guidance and leadership in organizing this event. Her vision and dedication were instrumental in bringing the Interlude Showcase to life. Her support throughout the process has been invaluable, and her commitment to excellence inspired all of us to push our boundaries and deliver our best work.

I also want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Mr. Asrizal for organizing and leading the Design Portfolio class. This course has been an unforgettable experience, filled with invaluable lessons and moments that I will carry with me. The insights and experiences I've gained have truly enriched my understanding of design and the creative process.

To my fellow design team members, I am immensely grateful for your cooperation, support, and reliability throughout this journey. You have been amazing groupmates, and I couldn't have asked for a better team to design alongside. Your dedication and creativity made this showcase a success.

I would also like to express my appreciation to the other teams—admin, marketing, media, and logistics. Your hard work and collaboration were essential in bringing this showcase to life. There were certainly ups and downs along the way, but these challenges taught me valuable lessons about how the industry works and the importance of teamwork.

Last but certainly not least, I want to thank all the guests who took the time to visit and celebrate our showcase. Your presence and support meant the world to us and added a special touch to the event.

And to all the others who contributed in ways big and small, even if I haven’t mentioned you by name, please know that I am deeply thankful for your efforts. Every single contribution, no matter how subtle, played a role in making the Interlude Showcase a success. This journey has been both a learning experience and a celebration of our collective efforts, and I am thankful to everyone who helped make it a reality.
