LECTURES

WEEK 6 / 06.10.2022
This week, we learn a walk cycle by understanding the 4 poses of the walk (Contact, Down, Pass, Up) and applying the animation principles that you have learnt from previous topics to make the walk cycle looks fluid and flexible. In the cycle animation:
1. Looping animation
2. Timing: 3 frames for each scene.

In cycle, we can have:
1. Walk-Loop
2. Effects - Fire, Ocean waves

In walk cycle, needs:
1. Reference - observe - formulas (the Animation's Survival Kits)
2. Poses (4): Pose to pose
    a. Contact
    b. Down
    c. Pass
    d. Up
    e. Contact
    f. Down (flipped)
    g. Pass (flipped)
    h. Up (flipped)
    i. Contact
3. Timing
    a. 2 frames
    b. 3 frames
    c. 4 frames
Based on the Natural walk,
    - 2 steps per 1 second
    - 2 steps per 24 frames
    - Each step 12 drawings

PRACTICAL

WEEK 6 / 06.10.2022
This week, we learn how to animate a walk cycle from the side. Here is my first attempt in class. I'm using procreate to draw it.

I was not satisfied with my first attempt, so I drew again. Here is my second attempt.

Here is my rough sketch for the front side. I was struggling with the front side.

Here is my clean outline for the front and side views.

Then I compile everything in Adobe Animate. Here is my progress.

Here is the result.

FEEDBACK

WEEK 10 / 03.11.2022
You can make the front size the same as the side view. You can change the background into more lighter. The character looks happy but the background looks gloomy.

REFLECTION

In this exercise section, I've learned a lot of things starting with how to animate balls and basic forms with more clarity and detail. I feel animation requires patience, thoroughness, and fortitude, as well as a strong imagination. I am grateful to have taken this module with Mr Kamal. Mr Kamal patiently gave me useful feedback for me.
