ASSIGNMENT 2: Visual Design Publication

We were tasked to design the publication of the dissertation. The concept of the publication must be relevant to the research topic. Dr. Hayati advised us to keep our visual design publication work at A5 size.

The publication cover must include the title of the research, along with our name. The following detail must be stated behind the title page:
  • Student's full name
  • Student number
  • The Design School at Taylor's University, Subang Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia,
  • Design Research Dissertation (DIS60304)
  • Bachelor of Design Creative Media
  • Semester Intake
  • Date of Submission

Then I tried to make it in Adobe Indesign, but I forgot to capture it, sad. Then Dr Hayati gave revisions to my draft. I revised my draft and I changed the whole design. Here is my progress.

FEEDBACK

WEEK 9 - 28/10/2022
  • General:
    - Put the title again after the cover book and also the copyright page.
    - Don’t straight away jump to the content
    - Don’t forget to look for references for a table of content, page number design, and chart design.
    - Don’t put it in Illustrator or Photoshop. Put it in InDesign
    - Don’t be too consistent, so it’s not boring in a hundred pages.

  • Specific:
    - Dive more into your topic (3D Animation). Search for free copyright 3D animation or lighting as your reference.
    - The minimalist can be achieved from the text
    - Because your topic is about lighting, the theme tends to be darker.

WEEK 10 - 04/11/2022
  • General:
    - If you have any issue just communicate. Love yourself don’t press yourself.
    - Reminder to you, from one section to another section needs to have the ‘breather’

  • Specific:
    - Don't procrastinate

WEEK 11 - 11/11/2022
  • General:
    - This weekend is the deadline
    - You can communicate everything, don’t stress yourself out

  • Specific:
    - Some of the sentences you need more explanation so that you won’t see plagiarism.
    - Paid attention to your in-text citation
    - Paid attention to your references as well, should APA 7th edition
    - Be consistent on the figure/ table position (up or down)
    - Make sure that from chapter 1 to the next one, there is a break page.

WEEK 9 - 28/10/2022
This week I feel really heavy. There's a lot I have to do not only for this class but for the other classes as well. This week, I'm still confused about what 3D animation is. Because I don't have my own 3D work. This week I have had no significant progress. I'm afraid I can't finish according to the deadline with the design I want

WEEK 10 - 04/11/2022
This week I feel very stressed with the many tasks and deadlines this week. Plus, this week I'm still looking for the right style for this DRD. I still haven't found the exact one. But finally, before entering week 11, I found the right style and hopefully, Dr Hayati will accept it

WEEK 11 - 11/11/2022
It’s a tiring week. There are lots of assignments that I need to do. I am very gladful to know that Dr Hayati postpones the submission of the design publication. I also feel very tired because there is another problem with my housemate. I am really pessimist about my assignment, can I finish it or not?

WEEK 12 - 18/11/2022
It’s a tough week. I feel like I’m tired and gave up on all of the assignments. There are lots of assignments that I need to do this week. This week also, my parents' visit to Malaysia. I forced myself to do work even though I want to spend more time with my family. I was demotivated for creating the design for publication. I just hope I didn’t miss any revisions. As result, I am late to submit my publication design. Hopefully, the result is fine.
