LECTURES

WEEK 9 / 27.10.2022
This week, we will learn two topics since we didn't have class on week 8, ILW. We learn about the animation principles of Appeal, Exaggeration, Secondary Action and Anticipation that bring clarity to your action. We also learn to plan our animation from a reference by breaking down them into Key, Extreme, and Breakdown and plotting them in pose-to-pose animation with the correct timing and spacing. We will be doing some projects that require an understanding of the different stages of animation from Rough to Tie Down.

Clarity
<iframe src="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1mxDH3YPrwj1QFdaPFKXxGbULYSy4ql1D/preview" width="640" height="480" allow="autoplay"></iframe>

Clarity is keeping your shot clean and precise; for instance, it could mean simplifying the movements of your character so it's easier for the audience to keep up. No matter what animation you're doing, the most important concept you must strive for is clarity.
Clarity in Staging
Clarity in Secondary Action
Clarity in Exaggeration
Clarity in Solid Drawing

Appeal
<iframe src="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1KW9E-OMQ3neXr8wcaQ4qB4XAmZb0fcGI/preview" width="640" height="480" allow="autoplay"></iframe>

Spectators enjoy watching something that is appealing such as:
- an expression,
- a character,
- a movement
- whole story situation

WEEK 10 / 03.11.2022
This week, Mr Kamal gives us feedback on all our assignments except project 2 which we're doing it now. Also, Mr Kamal gives us another instruction for BDCM students, which is slightly different from other non-BDCM students. The animation final project is the same as the film studies final project. Here is the instruction.

PRACTICAL

WEEK 9 / 27.10.2022
I tried to look for live action which applied to one of my actions on the final project but I can't find it. Here is my reference

I tried to download the QuickTime installer that Mr Kammal recommended but I can't run it on my laptop. I decided to take a screenshot of each movement then I learn it. Here is my progress.

Fig. 2.1 - 2.4 / Progress, Week 10 (03.11.2022)

It's only 2 seconds so far but I need to make it approximately 5 seconds. I might add the walk/run cycle or adding the hug and turn around.

WEEK 10 / 03.11.2022
This week, I will complete project 2. I add the walk cycle side view and then fill it with black colour to make the silhouette. Then finally I put them in adobe animate. Here is my progress.

Here is the result for project 2.

FEEDBACK

WEEK 13 / 24.11.2022
Add a clean sketch between the silhouette and the rough sketch. Don't forget to put the title this is rough or a reference, etc.

REFLECTION

In my opinion, this is the most difficult project among other projects in animation fundamentals. From project 2, I learned that rough sketches are very important because we can know more about basic forms properly in this section. I also learned many things like patience, thoroughness, and fortitude in this lesson.
